High up on Mynydd Llangattock 3 miles due south of Crickhowell which is on the A40 5 miles west of Abergavenny.

DESCRIPTION

This is a new Bunkhouse built to a very high standard.

Situated high up on the mountain side with easy walking access to a range of activities it also has breath taking views of the surrounding Brecon Beacons National Park.

Wern Watkin bunkhouse is a newly converted barn to accommodate 30 people. Accommodation is in rooms for 2, 4 and 6 people all en-suite. There is a large space to eat and relax. It is designed for large groups

The Bunkhouse has a large outdoor area with barbeque which opens onto magical surrounding ancient woodland and a rare mountain marshland site. For the wildlife enthusiast there are a range of interesting birds and plants on the door step including red kites, peregrines, and orchids.

There is wash equipment and storage for caving and mountain biking available.
Fully certified fire and smoke alarm system. There is full disabled access for the whole ground floor and the immediate surroundings.

HEATING / COOKING FACILITIES

Under floor heating throughout. Unlimited hot water. Drying room and heat recovery system which ensures even the wettest walkers can be dried out.

Fully equipped catering style kitchen – LPG hob, microwave, freezer etc. Catering can also be organised if booked in advance.

WHAT TO BRING

Bedding is provided but please bring towels.

NEAREST PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Buses run form Abergavenny and Brecon to Crickhowell with a train and coach station at Abergavenny

There is a taxi company in Crickhowell.

LOCAL INTERESTS / ATTRACTIONS

Easy walking access to the caves and climbing cliffs on Llangattock Mountain (these need to be booked in advance)

Situated to give direct access to network of footpaths and mountain biking routes in area. Links via a flat tram way to the RN34 Sustrans route at Brynmawr. Bike hire (delivered to door) can be arranged.

Professionally Qualified instruction can be arranged for these activities.

Excellent local flora and fauna including a national nature reserve within walking distance.

One mile from Blaenavon World Heritage centre.

Also full and easy access to all other aspects of the National park.
