LOCAL INTERESTS / ATTRACTIONS

The Thomas Shop itself celebrates the history of shop-keeping and traditional skills in Mid-Wales, with the shop dating back to 1805.

The pastel countryside of Radnorshire is ideal for a leisurely retreat or respite from a pressured life, for walking, cycling, fishing and many other pastimes. You can wander from the house along the River Ithon, over Penybont Common, or along the ridge of Llandegley Rocks.

The Pales, Quaker Meeting House, which provides a place for contemplation, a step back in time, and fabulous views, is just a short walk away.

A few miles West along the A44 brings you to Rhayader and the Elan Valley. Cycles can be hired in Rhayader. Also in Rhayader you can visit the Red Kite Centre at Griffen Farm.

You can travel further west on over the mountains, visiting Devil’s Bridge, to Aberystwyth, and the sea. If you take the mountain Road to Machynlleth, you can enjoy the scenic drive, and then visit the Centre for Alternative Technology.

East and north takes in Kington, Knighton and Presteigne with Hergest Croft Gardens, the Space Guard Centre, and the Judges’ Lodgings Museum all worth a visit.
